I've wanted to write about this topic since a month ago. I know about this "Hedgehog Dilemma" from Neon Genesis Evangelion TV series. The unique term of this dilemma makes it always be remembered by me. And after some events occured last month, suddenly this term popped up in my head. Then my curiosity drives to browse the internet about this topic. Anyway, for more informations about "Hedgehog Dilemma", please follow this Wikipedia link or Answers.com link.
It's the nature of human, that in life we always need somebody else, that in life we can't live alone for humans are social beings. So unconsciously, at least for me, human always feels comfortable when there is someone around that loves and concerns about us. But, every single individual is a unique being and imperfect. So sometimes we do something that hurt each other. It likes the false idea of this dilemma, that hedgehogs, with their sharp spines, will hurt each other if they get too close. The closer we get to someone, the chances that we will get hurted will be bigger. Because when we have a close relationship with someone, we tends to have a high expectation of him/her. But the differences among humans and imperfect trait in every single individual make that expectation is highly unlikely will be fulfilled. And when this is happened, we will be badly hurted.
Fortunately, hedgehogs don't hurt each other when they close to each other. When relaxed the spines lay flat and do not pose threat of poking one another. One of my friends, Audi, said that when we were relaxed at a relationship, we would not hurt each other. I'm agree with her, but I think we must act according to the situation and condition. The key points are we have to try to understand each other and keep in our mind always that every human is imperfect and unique.
The beauty of life comes from the harmony of the differences in life.

1st. The closer we get to someone, the chances that we will get hurted will be bigger.
2nd. True, and the chances to get even closer to that someone is far bigger, if we can manage the conflict well. But then, back to 1st statement.
:p
Hehe.. that's the risk being close to somebody. But there is also a special gift waiting for you if you dare to take that risk.
